Hello staff and fellow minecrafters, you may know that recently I have been griefed by someone killing all seven of my farmers. You may wonder how I know this:
All seven of my farmers are gone (pretty sure they're dead)
There was an xp orb in my farm (this means that there was a player nearby recently)
Random patches of my farmland has been turned into dirt (Most Lotr mobs don't/can't do this) - Has a witness for this piece of evidence.
Someone(I forgot their name) looked around and came to the same conclusion I did.
I ask for items to fix this:
240 coins to rehire the dead farmers.
2 stacks of seeds that the dead farmers had.
1 stack of wheat that the dead farmers had.
1/2 of a stack of carrots my dead farmers had.
1/2 of a stack of wheat, seeds and carrots to make up for lost production.
If you require people to conform this, you can ask Anthony(Randomess) and Trand. (TheMakiPlays) as I was freaking out in chat when this happened.
Thank you for reading this.

I suggest you make that clearer in the rules, as it is confusing
Will the rules be reworded to prevent this confusion in this case?
No, if we specified things that weren't illegal, the rules would be 500 pages long. They're long enough as it is. I also disagree that it's confusing. Breaking/placing blocks/entities should never lead one to think about NPCs. You can't break or place an NPC.
While, I do agree that it would be very impractical to write down everything, at the moment the rulebook is sightly vague and doesn't cover everything.

What prevents me from mass killing player owned npcs if I have the ability?
Nothing. That's allowed.
How can I protect my farmers without building a huge wall? (which is actually getting built)
You can't really. Leaving farmers out in the fields is a surefire way to get them killed. I had the same thing happen to my farmers in Mosswater until I build a perimeter wall.
Technically, the player who killed my farmers also griefed by destroying a few farm blocks, will this work to bring up charges?
Like I said, when you're next on, I can check and see if it was a player, and if it was, they will be punished accordingly and I will help you fix the farm. The NPCs will not be refunded though.
Why is mass killing unarmed npcs intentional/allowed in most cases?
Because we have absolutely no way whatsoever to prevent it, and the only way of checking who did it is extremely time consuming and tedious. It's much easier to just have players take responsibility of their own troops and farmers.
Farmers are also killed all the time by orcs, so leaving them out in the open wouldn't be smart even if killing them were against the rules, which it's not and won't be.

Alright, since this isn't illegal then, I have a few q's.

Nope, staff discussed it a while ago and the decision was that it doesn't count. Blocks/entities in this context include any block, and entities like item frames, banners, leads, etc.

"No Griefing (this includes breaking or placing blocks/entities inside a build without permission)"

Hey Orange.
Unfortunately in this case we really can't refund you because killing NPCs, animals, and more specifically, farmers isn't against the rules. It's very possible that the trampled crops were a result of your farmers dying. I think NPCs don't normally trample crops, but when their dead bodies hit the dirt they can trample them that way. I can come check out your farm and if a player did it, I should be able to tell.
I'll happily give you all the necessary veggies if that's the case, and if not, I can help you fix it just with my own supplies.
Isn't killing unarmed npcs in banner protected territory considered griefing?

Edit: My farm was banner protected so it is very unlikely orcs killed them(And orcs don't destroy farmland).
Also there was a randomly almost eaten cake that was placed down near my house.
