10th Annual Holiday Building Contest!

Hello there! I am pleased to see you here in this new forum of ours! I hope you are well! Oh? What am I doing with this comically enormous megaphone in my hand? Well, I am glad you asked! BECAUSE LADIES coughs BECAUSE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I WELCOME YOU TO THE ONE AND ONLY (ONE OF 9 OTHERS), THE BIG EVENT OF THE YEAR (OTHER THAN THE OTHER BIG EVENTS WE HAVE ALL YEAR), THE COLDEST (this part is actually true), THE COOLEST (see last part), THE CLEEKEST (this is a form of slang that is streets ahead), THE TEEEEEEEEENTH ANNUAL BUILDING CONTEST CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY ANNUAL CONTEST ANNUAL EXTRAVAGANZAAAAANNUAL.

So this year marks the 10th year we do it. Yeah, I can't believe it either. That's BOTh your hands or 1 hand TWICE amount of times (!). Unless you don't have hands... Anyhow, please put your hands together, or uh, roots? branches? whatever you got, put it together! For we are doing what ANY respectable tradition does after 10 years and that is.... going back to the beningingn. Welcome to an ENTISH CHRISTMAS!

Back to the roots, the start, the very soil from which this tradition was born! We're all attendees and that in its own right is a mossy miracle. Just picture it with me here, beautiful trees dusted with real snow (or that weird plastic stuff that you are afraid might burn)... ancient bark, wrapped in lights... the festive spirit home-grown rather than store-bought... maybe it's how the Ents celebrate, maybe you're just making a Christmas tree, maybe it's maybeline, or maybe, just maybe, it's a really cool angry tree that is really upset with all the cheer. Who knows? You do and you will participate! Here's how;

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Grab your axes (only for the sleepy Ents), your chisels, and that beautiful holiday cheer, and then do the following:

  1. Sign up! You can do this through the forums, or by messaging a staff member!

  2. Get your plot assigned. Already have a favourite plot in mind? Be sure to mention that in ^STEP 1!^

  3. Start building! Or growing!

Whatever you conjure up, be sure it is on theme! An Entish Christmas is quite a broad theme since any Christmas tree will do, but so will any forest, perhaps even a carpentry project if you're feeling like impressing Saruman! Simply go wild! No matter if it is grand and ancient, or small and cozy, I'm certain you can bring that theme home! Still stuck? Wander over to the /warp Christmas and take inspiration from others and years past!

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Each build will be judged in four categories, scored from 1-5:

  1. Originality: How creative and unique is your idea?

  2. Technique: Craftsmanship, detail, and execution.

  3. Story/Funny: Does it tell a story or make the judges laugh?

  4. Theme: How well does it embody an Entish Christmas?

The Three highest-scoring builds will be crowned our magnificent winners!

RULES (BORING BUT IMPORTANT):

  • The event runs for a couple of weeks starting NOW (yes, right now)

  • Build only on your assigned plot, you may edit the borders of it but not beyond.

  • Friends can be added to your plot, but, only 1 prize per plot will be awarded.

  • No WE/VS/Staff Help for building. Everything must be done by hand.

  • Building materials are not provided.

  • We are using bronze-banner sized plots. There's no height/depth limits (but don't cross that border)!

PRIZES:

The prizes are extremely generous, beautiful, stunning, and tree! Far beyond what is listed here!

1st Place: MAJOR LORE ITEM

2nd Place: MAJOR LORE ITEM

3rd Place: LESSER LORE ITEM

All participators get showered in other riches and a lot of leaves. Seriously, tons.

As usual, in order to get your plot, you must post a message with your IGN here on the forums (or message a staff member on Discord) and a plot will be assigned to you shortly afterwards. Get to the build contest area via `/warp Christmas`!

Thank you all for 10 years of builds, chaos, creativity, and holiday spirit. This community would be nothing without you! Happy Holidays and good luck!
